Former Milton Defender
RAYMOND MASTERSON has been confirmed as the new man at the helm of Cambusbarron
Rovers.
Raymond was announced as the
man for the job by Chairman Iain Campbell, who said of the former Milton player and Coach: “We are delighted to welcome Raymond
to the Rovers, a man who enjoyed playing for Milton for a long spell and then was equally highly
regarded as a coach with their successful Stirling District team. A long time
ago the Rovers tried to sign him as a player, we were not successful then but
we are delighted he is here now. His proven ability as a coach, a person
and a leader and someone who has the talent to develop players, attracted him to
us and we hope he can take Cambusbarron Rovers forward”
RAYMOND MASTERSON started his coaching at Milton where he was a major part in their successes with their Stirling team of the last few years, but
states he was only one of a number of good people who contributed to these
successes. Indeed he has brought BRIAN GRANT and JEFF SPEED to assist him at the Barron in an effort to re-create the same
team spirit, will to win and enthusiasm to play football. Raymond stated “I am delighted to be at Mill Road Park, this place holds so many great memories for many
people and we will be trying to bring a few more. We will try and make
Cambusbarron Rovers a good team to watch but we also want to get a winning
mentality back and we want everybody associated with the club to enjoy being a
part of it”
“Brian, Jeff and I are very pleased to be given an opportunity, this is a great
challenge for us. I would also like to thank Milton for the good years there, where we gained invaluable
experience. It is however absolutely great for us to be here and we can’t wait
for the first league game, and hopefully the players will feel the same.”
The
Rovers new boss was clear what his immediate priority was: “First and
foremost my intention is to get to know the players here. We have basically a
young local squad, and we want to develop them; and by doing that, the team
will benefit and will see better results. We obviously will try and bring in a
few players who we know and have worked with before and then the club can go
forward. It’s a big challenge, a great opportunity to work at a club who I have
such enormous respect for.”
